Monte-Carlo Television Festival Day 2

Sunday, June 16, the second day of The Monte-Carlo Television Festival, once again offered fans of the TV and film industry the opportunity to meet with French and international celebrities throughout the entire day at the dedicated Fan Zone and at specially organized events at the Grimaldi Forum as well as provided the oppotunity to fans and professionals to screen both in and out of competition series.
The morning was dedicated to a screening of Prime Video's Escort Boys - the steamy show that follows four French farmers who transform into male escorts. The screening was followed by a meet and greet with members of the cast, including US star Kelly Rutherford. The cast also participated in a special Fan Meeting in the afternoon.

Elsbeth (French premiere), Alone at Sea (World Premiere) and The Gathering (international premiere) were the series that got their in competition screenings during the afternoon and the evening, followed by meetings and Q&A with the casts and crews.

Another Fan Meeting was organized with the stars of The Good Doctor: Will Yun Lee and Fiona Gubelmann. Both of the actors met their fans and the press to talk about their characters and about the show coming to an end and the legacy that will go on after the finale.

Sunday was time for business at the Festival as the Business Content strand once again had three interesting and informative panels, focusing on AI and the latest trends in documentary productions. The first panel was a keynote presentation by Rémi Tereszkiewicz, CEO of BetaSeries covering the European TV series market latest trends on usages and commissioning, taking into account BetaSeries exclusive polls and insights especially on the free TV's platformization and the content strategies (including using AI) of all players to retain their audiences in a market under pressure. The second panel called How AI Tools Can Help Creation & Distribution continued on the technology topic and was again hosted by Tereszkiewicz and featured Leslie Greif from Big Dreams Entertainment, Tom Jennings from 1895 Films, Florian Wentsch from UFA Fiction and Leif Holst Jensen from INN University. The discussion explored the ways in which AI tools can impact the creation and distribution of content and devling into generative and discriminative AI applications, showcasing specific tools as examples and also examining the potential long-term effects on creativity and audience engagement in the media industry. The third panel of the day focused on the latest trends in documentary-making. The session called New Narratives for Documentaries: The Blur Between Reality and Fiction saw professionals discuss the rise in documentary-fiction hybrid films, and detail some of the different forms this has taken. Among the questions tackled are: What is the justification for adopting this approach? Can it deliver a deeper truth? Experts on the panel included Steve Anderson, EP at Shearwater Media, Chiara Avesani, a journalist at RAI, Tom Jennings - CEO and EP at 1895 Films and Martina Santava, creative producer at Czech pubcaster CT.
